ACTIVE AGE
The focus of our Active Age initiative is to provide a range of activities for our age 50+ Community. Currently this includes the Friday Club, Men`s Shed, Trips and
Visits, Monthly get together evenings and Elderly alarms.
BRIDGE
Bridge is well established in the Ballyroan area and attracts a growing following. We have Bridge lessons running throughout the week. On Sunday nights we host a Bridge social night.
BALLYROAN TALKS
Ballyroan Talks are modelled on the popular TED talks, which has worldwide appeal. The purpose of the talks, presented by an expert in the field, is to introduce the audience to new ideas,
projects and insights across a wide range of topical areas. The talks will be made available on our website.
BALLYROAN COMMUNITY AND YOUTH THEATRE
During the year, we run a series of Concerts and Plays for our local Community. With a state of the art sound system and theatre quality acoustics we provide music, singing and drama.
BALLYROAN SUSPENSION TRAINING
“Strength and Conditioning” classes are designed and delivered by professional fitness instructors using the participants own body weight and tools including kettle bells, suspension training straps and ropes.
Some benefits of strength and conditioning classes are
• Increased strength
• Improved flexibility
• Boosted metabolism
• Gained muscle
• Reduced body fat
• Improved posture
• Positive state of mind
We have pay as you go classes weekly. Find us on Facebook.
MEALS ON WHEELS
The provision of meals is an invaluable service within the community and provides hot and nutritious meals, four days per week from Tuesday to Friday. This enables people to continue living at home in the community rather than going into a nursing home or sheltered accommodation. The areas we cover are primarily Ballyroan, Rathfarnham, Knocklyon and Templeogue. We have over 150 volunteers supporting the operation.
VOLUNTEERS
Over many years, our volunteers, now totaling over 170 people, have formed a most important part of our operations at the Centre. We rely on them for the successful operation of our meals-on wheels service, both cooking and meal delivery and also for providing valued support in the Café, Reception and Active Age Club.
